Today we were reading My name is Rez with Amanda. I read it with my eyes while Amanda read it out loud. During reading the text we had to talk about the main ideas with Amanda. She gave us questions to write down and answer. 

After we read the story we had to create a vocabulary poster that had unfamiliar and interesting words in it. We were given three and then had to come up with one on our own. Once we had the words we had to write what it meant and then put it in a sentence.

Bok choy my summary

Bok choy is a story written by Paul Mason. The story is set near a Chinese story that is made in New Zealand the characters names are Jacob, William’s, Mrs Bishop, Ah sum and also Jacob's mother at the beginning Jacob was helping his mother stack the Firewood. Then Ah sum comes into their village trying to shell bok choys but nobody wants one. Then Jacob went fishing and then he slipped off the rock and went into the river he tried to grab onto the rocks but he hit them. And then he woke up and he was in Ah sum’s hut Ah sum gave him something warm to drink and Ah sum said to Jacob that his mum is come to get you a take you home. And then his mother came and took him home but before she did she told Ah sum to come over tomorrow and get you all clean up she said to Ah sum and then Jacob mother took him though the Chinese village and then on the path outside their cottage they got stopped by Mrs bishop and Mrs bishop said well look what the cat dragged in she said , chucking at Jacob and then his mother said something well rubbing Jacob cheeks and then they went back inside. .

Dear Family:

IN New Zealand I Went for a little walk around the river and I saw a boy that was in the river. He was drowning in the water. I saved him from drowning and took him to my house and then I put him in a warm blanket and then he woke up. And then  i gave him something warm and then his mum came a took him home a told the old man to come tomorrow to get all clean up and she said no money it is free.

Today we had to make Ah Sum's hut on google drawing or on Tinker-cad or draw it. 

 We had to add things like what he had in the story like 

Stone walls, people, fire, chimney, clothes rack, chair/cushion, Table and chopsticks/food. 

That is what he had in his hut. And I chose to draw  

because it is easy for me to draw it.

It was hard to draw thing that I can not really draw but I try. Do you have a question for me?

Researching about a country  

I am researching New Zealand because I have lived here since I was born. In New Zealand I have only been down to

 Tauranga and back up to Kaitaia. 

Island: North Island

Country: New Zealand

Population: 4.8 million

Famous Landmarks:

- Light house: This is a famous light house at the very tip of NZ. This is where most people go to for family time.

- Te Papa Museum - a museum in Wellington

- Sky tower - the tallest building in Auckland, New Zealand

- Mount Cook - the highest mountain in New Zealand. 

Currency: New Zealand money 

Capital City: Wellington

                                How to make zentangle act.  

Step 1: pick a  picture.

Step 2: Draw zentangle's in you picture. 

Step 3: Go over with Sharpie in black. 

Step 4: Cut out the picture.

Step 5: Use Water colours or die for you background. 

Step 6: Gule zentangle picture. 

Step 7: Write your name.

this was cool to make and fun the hard bit was to sharpie.

New Math Strategy

W.A.L.T solve addition and subtraction problems by rounding or going back through a tidy 10.

Hexagons, my math group have been learning efficient ways to solve math problems. One we have been focusing on for a couple of weeks has been using tidy numbers.
To solve addition problems we have to round the number closest to a tidy ten up and then take away what you added from your answer.
To solve subtraction problems we take away the ones and then take away the left overs. Below is a picture showing you how to do it,
